We accept gently worn or new clothing in Sizes 14 and up  We also accept shoes, purses, hats, belts, jewelry, and other accessories. Items must be size 14 and above, current or a very classic style and in season.

All consignments are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, so we can process your consignments promptly. Appointments are booked 6 days a week and most consignments go out for sale the day they arrive.

We accept a minimum of 10 pieces, maximum 80 at any time! When adding on to a contract a minimum of 10 pieces is still required and a new appointment is needed.

Acceptable Items for Consignment

Items must be FRESHLY LAUNDERED, PRESSED AND ON HANGERS (your hangers are given right back). We will not accept items in garbage bags or boxes. Your items will not be accepted for consignment if they have stains, rips or excessive wear, buttons missing or hems down.  They must be free of pet hair and smoke free.

Items that require dry cleaning which are less than 2 years old please do so (if they are soiled).  If they just need to be freshened up try Dryel or any other home dry cleaning system.  Items older than 2 years bring to us first and we will then let you know if they need to be dry-cleaned (most fabrics can be washed in cold water, gentle cycle and hung to dry - successfully).

Shoes and purses must be in very good condition, with no scuffs, worn heels, broken straps, etc. We accept all size shoes from 5 - 12 or over, but they must be a current style.

We accept costume jewellery, including watches, rings and earrings (both pierced and clip), necklaces, and brooches. Please make sure that there are no stones/crystals missing, that earrings have their backings.  Be sure all clasps etc are working.  It takes just as much time to itemize and price a piece of jewellery, so please be sure to include any jewellery when booking your appointment. We price and sell all jewelry as “costume” so please be sure that these items are not real gems/gold.

And don't forget, swimwear is accepted year round.

We treat you and your items with respect and professionalism because you are our suppliers. The condition your clothes arrived to us is the way you will receive them back. 

Contract Information

All items accepted for consignment at Les Grandes Dames are listed on a computerized contact, which lists each item and shows you the selling prices for that item.

Contracts are for a three-month time period. Items are priced at full price (determined by Les Grandes Dames) for one month. If it does not sell in that time, it is reduced by 25% for the second month and further reduced 50% of the original price in the third and final month.

The itemized computer contract will show the selling price of each item for each month with the appropriate reductions. You will receive 40% of the selling price of each item, even if it sells for less during a store promotion, you receive 40% of the selling price.  Payout for all contracts is at the end of the three-month period.

At the end of the three months, any unsold items are removed from the sales floor and packaged for you to pick up. You will be called when your contract is complete.  An itemized list showing what sold and it’s selling price along with a cheque will be with your clothes when you pick them up. You have 14 days from the day you were called to pick your clothes.  If we do not hear from you, they become the property of Les Grandes Dames and will be donated.  Your cheque is then mailed to you.  If you choose to donate your items, a cheque will be mailed to you with an itemized list showing what sold and it’s selling price.

Consigning Tips

The more people you tell about the store, the more people coming through the doors to shop, the more people viewing your items, the more opportunity for their sale, the more $$$ to you.

Investing in a fabric shaver can make the difference between a garment being consigned or not.  There are great plug-in ones for approximately $23.00  Even if you don’t consign your clothes…they are a great thing to have to keep your clothes looking fresh.

Consigning is a great way to purchase clothes during a weight loss transition.  You want some new clothes but don’t want to spend too much as you know you’re going to lose more.  That’s when shopping or even consigning your clothes can help.  Buy new for you at a fraction of the price and make some money on those great clothes you can’t wear anymore by consigning them.
